RUDY is one of those classic shows that shold be seen by every young pereson. It's an insperational story that shows how the strength of yourself, and the support you show someone will come back ten fold at some point to you.

the notebook is a wonderful, sweet human story!!! i love james garner and have since i was but a wee lass...

prairie home companion is a cute little film with lots of minnesota humor and nuances in it... it does include a 'romance' between an older couple... it was sweet and touching too.. in it's own way.. for virginia madsen fans.. she is as beautiful as ever... lili tomlin and meryl streep played their roles well and were a great sister act... maya rudolph stole a few scenes... i enjoyed it... has a few great shots of mickey's diner in st paul!!!

Well, it's been a while since I've been to the cinema, but I'm getting caught up on my summer movies.  Reviews are in now for two of the big name movies of the summer and here they are.

Pirates 2: Not really a fan.  I thought it lacked the heart the first one had.  The character of Capt. Sparrow wasn't fresh or original this time around and so that made the film less enjoyable.  I laughed only at the debate over the origin of the word kraken and at the things which referenced the first film, such as the sea turtles which Will used to escape the Flying Dutchman, etc.  And even those only got a slight chuckle out of me.  The first film left open the possiblity for a sequel but it wrapped things up pretty neat and tidy while this one left it completely open because they know there's a sequel because it's already mostly filmed.  That was what annoyed me because I probably wouldn't have gone to see a third film in this franchise if they had wrapped everything up which is why they left it open.  They're calling it a trilogy, but the term trilogy implies an overarching storyline which carries through all 3 films.  This is really a film with a giant sequel that they could have fit into one film if they really tried.  I didn't feel the length on the first film, but I did with the second.  I am not really looking forward to the third installment, but it's a necessity now because of the way they ended this second film.

Devil Wears Prada: Overall a cute movie.  And could the actor that played the writer be any better looking?  I don't think so.  Meryl Streep was fantastic, she totally made the film.  I love Anne Hathaway and the combination of these two actresses made for an incredibly enjoyable and believable chemistry between the two.  And by chemistry I just mean they meshed well into their respective roles and those characters' relation to one another.  Anne Hathaway is a young, up-and-coming actress who here got the opportunity to learn from a truly talented actress who has been in the business long enough to know the techniques that truly enable one to master a role and create the character in a way no one else ever could.   The chemistry in general between the entire cast was believable.  Stanley Tucci was fabulous as always.  He will be in this business for a long time simply because he is a chameleon who is able to blend into any role given to him.

And one movie which isn't in theatres any more but I saw on TV last night, Raising Helen: I thought this was a cute film about family and the relationships that never die no matter how hard we may try to run from them or whether the loved family members are no longer with us.  Probably was edited since it was on TV, but maybe not because it was on Oxygen, but who knows and I thought it was enjoyable all-in-all.

okay... finally watched 'brokeback mountain'.... it was slow paced and tense at times... the acting was incredible!!! these two guys held each other the way lovers do and made it seem so natural... ann hathaway gave a shining performance and is  terribly underrated ... she can do so much more than cutsey comedies...

am i supposed to feel more understanding of the homsexual relationship now?? if anything, it made me pity these two highly flawed characters and the lives that they led... the lies that they led... repulsed?? at times..especially toward the reactions of people toward them...  and i didn't think i would be...

it is a haunting movie...

When I watched it recently, I watched alone. Hubby still refused to ever watch it.

It made me cry ... because I never once thought about it being two men. It just felt like a love story.

The scenery was awesome!

Downfall

This is one of the most important war films ever made! Brilliant from start to finish, its really gives you a insight into the troubles of Germany in the last week of Hitler's life! This film is moving, hard to watch in places, outstanding acting, has a dark humour to it in places, it has a grit and honesty about it all the way through... and when watching it you must understand that this is made by Germans, so coming from them its a brutal look at their dark and untold(byselves anyway) history!
Most of the film is set in Hitlers hideout in Berlin, in the week leading up to he taking his own life...
A real must see........

Well just watched "United  93" and I can say without a doubt it's a must see. At the same time I still prefer the TV version that was shown on A&E a while back. The TV version had more heart, and pulled you in much more. This flick is still one I will watch again a few more times in the future, but only if the TV version isn't one I can get.

Overall this movie gets for the fact that it's really good, but....

I'll give it for the fact that it's something people need to see on occasion to remind us not to get to relaxed and to always stay vigil in the fight on terror.

Didn't you feel though after watching it a sense of victory? I didn't like the idea going into it because I just felt like, well, although the terrorists didn't succeed, it's like they're still getting free publicity or something. I dunno - it felt funny. But after waqtching, to me it make such a strong statement like - You ( the terrorists ) wanted to divide and conquor us with fear and intimidation but instead we've bonded and have become more determined.

a fabulous movie that i watched last nite... such a diversion from LOST!!!

'the woodsman' with kevin bacon and kera sedgwick... wonderfully acted performance of a pedophile released from prison and the difficulties he has with his life, his disorder, his relationships and some (not so) surprising connections to theepidemic of childhood sexual abuse... it has always amazed me that these people keep finding each other over and over in life...  moving and traumatic... wonderful wonderful acting... tormented people....

must see!!!

Lion I'm goint to have to go along with that. I loved the way that it showed the human spirit, and the fact that regardless of them wanting to we wouldn't allow them to break us. The passengers of that flight stand out as much as any of those innocent people that paid for Osama's hatred.
