and now the answer as to why i was gutting an elk today:
one of our friends called my mom this morning and told her that he had seen and heard poachers on his property and that there was a dead elk laying out by one of the fences.
so my mom called the Game & Fish people and told them about the poachers and the elk. the people told my mom not to move the elk as that had to investigate it before it could be moved. we drove out to our friend's porperty and put up a tarp to shade it from the sun and waited for the Game & Fish guy to show up.
when the guy did show up he said that it just looked like this elk had ran into the fence and had broken its neck, and he said that we could have it if we wanted it. so i gutted it with a little help from my mom and the Game & Fish guy( who was the same guy that taught my Hunter's safety course, he is really nice )
after it was all gutted we loaded it up in the back of the truck and drove back to the house to skin it. my dad got home right as we did so he helped a little with that part. then we cut it up into quarters and put it the freezer
I cried, "Oh, Lady Midnight, I fear that you grow old, the stars eat your body and the wind makes you cold." "If we cry now," she said, "it will just be ignored."
that's not really a good picture of me though, i don't look good in most pictures. i'll have to find a pic that i look good in, and i will post that one
I agree with everyone else. It's nice to have a face to go with the name now. I do say that you live a very cool life. It's a kind of life I really think more people should strive for. I think that as a people (everyone in the world) we have lost touch. I love the modern things (360, cellphone) but I think we shouldn't forget the things that make us human. In many ways the style of life you live is so much more reliable. The closeness of your family (much like Des and Aisha) is what every person in the world should be shooting for. Not how flashy my car is or how cool my dog looks in it's clothes (ridiculous IMO). Thanks for posting that.
