Wowsers! People remember me!

Kings: yes, so far it appears to be worth watching. Premiere was for 2 hours and held my interest.

It is the story of the biblical David but set in modern times. But not our modern times. It is an alternate universe where a king rules the land of Gilboa. Gilboa is at war with Gath. A young private in the army of Gilboa comes to the king's attention when he defeats, singlehandely, a Goliath model Gath tank on the front line. And the story goes from there. This is a combination of alternate history, biblical story, Shakespeare and 'Dynasty'. Ian McShane as King Silas is tearin' up the scenery!

If you find it interesting then you can go to www.nbc.com to catch up.

New show tonight.

Unfortunately, I suspect it will be canceled. Gotta keep those doctor/lawyer/cop/detective shows instead of anything a little bit different.

I sort of feel like the movie "The Lake House" with Sandra Bullock and Keanua Reeves.

I post a message and a year later there's a reply.

Yeah, not exactly the same since none of us is in the future until we get there.

Hey! I like that phrase. "None of us is in the future until we get there".

Maybe I can get that worked into the Sarah Connor Chronicles before it is mercifully put out of its misery. Hmmm... Since they wrapped up this season it may already be too late.

Haven't seen any of these. For Life and Kyle it's due to lack of interest. For Torchwood it's cause we don't get BBC. Aaaarrggghhh!

People do get scifi more than they used to but not as much as we'd like. I grew up when it was derisively termed "Buck Rogers stuff". Then Glen Larson (the TV Buck Rogers, Six Million Dollar Man) and Irwin Allen (Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Time Tunnel) did not do much to improve its image.

But we do have the new Battlestar, Star Wars, Star Trek, The Matrix and such being accepted as adult fare so we are making progress.

Live long and prosper, M'Lady Lockesladyness.

In a burst of creativity ABC is replacing it with a show about police.

ABC will be taking a bold risk by presenting a show whose story uses this little used format. Will America be shocked by this drastic move? Tune in to see whether network TV has established a new paradigm for prime time television.

i don't think anyone will ever come back here again.... it seems to have become a total ghost town with only the echoes of past conversations.... everyone is too busy with real life and never has time to drop by or say hello....

we once had such good times here....

Hmmmm......

Is that a tumbleweed rolling through the message threads?

Wait, what was that? I felt a cold chill and saw a faint and hazy blur of grayish light over there.

Could this be turning into a ..... ghost town?

Will I be here all alone.....again?

Maybe I should watch "The Last Man on Earth", "Omega Man" and "I Am Legend" over again.

From Wikipedia:

Where Have All The People Gone? was a made for TV movie that was broadcast in 1974. It starred Peter Graves, Kathleen Quinlan, George O'Hanlon Jr., and Verna Bloom. This movie speculates on what would happen if a massive solar flare erupted and anyone without a particular gene dies from a mutated virus.

On a camping trip in the mountains, a dad (Peter Graves) and his two teenage children are exploring a cave when the solar flare hits. After emerging, they soon find that everyone is dead, and there are only a few survivors left scattered across the country. Most, out of fear and survival, are out for themselves, but as they try to make their way home (where the mother had returned earlier from the camping trip), they find two people that need their help as well as a man who invites them to be neighbors.

They face dangers ranging from wild dogs, who seem to have been driven mad from the solar flare, to an armed gunman who steals their car. They rescue a woman (Verna Bloom), and later a young boy whose family was killed by two men who stole their car. Besides the physical journey, they struggle to overcome the emotional trauma of the events.

I thought I remembered this but couldn't turn up anything with the title mentioned. Then remembered that Peter Graves was in it and found the title associated wth him.

Yeah, I watched it back in '74. Haven't seen it around anywhere since then.
