when des saw mrs hawkings, she told him he did not marry penny...that he was to go to the island to push the button and save the world. yet, here he is, married to penny.... sailing around the world.... did she manipulate him, per widmore's orders? (they were once buddies on the island...) and push him in the direction of regaining his honor, buying the boat (from libby who was too conveneiently available with it) and the boat was somehow fitted with a directional finder to sail toward the island? did he waste 3 years on the island pushing the button with widmore laughing in his office and drinking his scotch? was he actually supposed to marry penny 3 years earlier? after all, the universe has a way of course correcting, and herer we have des and penny...married and togehter as was their destiny????
