I cried, "Oh, Lady Midnight, I fear that you grow old, the stars eat your body and the wind makes you cold." "If we cry now," she said, "it will just be ignored."

I still hold to my theory about Henry. He's one of the gamemasters in the experiment/game they've got going.
Keep holding strong Lion. I'm starting to really look at this theory alot more. Fenry is much more involved than the average peon in this whole thing, but I don't believe that he's the "HIM" being refered to.
I think Henry/Fenry has got an extreme ability to manipulate and he had bene controlling the situation from the moment Danielle got him in the net to when he led Jack an the rest out with hoods on their heads. One of the best ways to control someone is to make them think they are in control. AND a very crazy but DANGEROUS person is one who will put himself in danger or be willing to suffur some serious stuff to be able to get his plan in motion. To subject himself/herself to pain/torture as a means to reach the objective ...
So manipulation is his game. I did see alot of that in him also. Almost like it was a game to him also. Seeing how far he could push someone before they broke. Testing the losties to find their capabilities. As for the thing with Danielle. I'm really starting to think that she's got something to do with them. Could Henry, and some of the others be part of the team she said was dead?

danielle captured henry and turned him over to the LOSTies.. part of henry's manipulations to see what the LOSTies were capable of??? was he really coming to get locke??? then why did klugh take jack, kate and sawyer... the people of science???

First I'll respond to this..I think they were taken instead of Locke soley on the fact that they need Jack's medical experience for something, and they also know that having the 3 of them out of the way on the other side of the island will allow Locke to make good on a attempt at leading like you said LL. I just think that Fenry was there to see how certain people would deal with him given the chance.
Now for Season 3 I'm thinking we will leaarn that he is the right hand man( #2 if you will) to whomever is in fact "Him". He does pretty much run the show on the island. he will be more vocal in what is going on, and why they take people that they take. He'll also let Jack in on more than the other 2 in hopes that Jack will side with them for the sake of science. His powers of persusion are great, and he knows human nature. This will come into play when dealing with Sawyer and kate. He will have info on them all, and will involve Sawyer in some sort of give take that will eventually lead Sawyer to learn that the "Real" Sawyer is part of Dharma/Hanso, and that if he choses to join them he'll have the chance to confront the man. He'll offer Kate the chance to take back what little llife she cherished (her mother) by showing her that her mother is in fact still alive. They have brought her to the island, and the powers of the island have worked on her like they did on Rose, and Locke.
Now some of his is far fetched, but with such a limited knowledge of the guy I had to reach a bit.

Personally I think they were taken to give Locke the ability to lead.

season 3... henry will get to work at setting up a deeper rift between locke and jack... he will feed jack misinformation/ misperceptions of locke that are semi-believable and this will cause much suspicion... not only for jack but for the audience... will jack fall in love with juliette?? no... he may be seduced but he will not falll.. something tells me juliette will be much like sarah....
The writers originally thought "Henry" would only be in a couple of episodes and they ended up liking him so much that they have kept him on. I wonder what the original plan was and how much they are changing it to incorporate "Henry" into the story....

Will we find out his real name?
Wow, it's "Ben" a while since this thread was visited. ha! I answered IR's question! hahaha!!
Anyway, as I've read ... I read like a madwoman these days ... was that there was always a leader of the others and the leader of the others was always going to be a hunted man by the people on the freighter. What changed was, the who and how and everything. What I'm picking up from this, and OBVIOUSLY this is debatable, is that probably they had Jacob slotted as the leader and so he might have possibly been the one to have been Alex's "father" too but when Emerson did such an incredible job and fans responded to him so well, they merely tweaked it a bit.
I've also read that initially he really was written to be a man named Henry Gale who crashed on the island during a hot air balloon across continents. That's interesting, but it does kind of take some validity out of my own theory that the hot air balloon was really one of the ways Dharma got on and off the island and they were using this as a means to bring food drops and the likes in. And that's okay
Another very interesting and thoughtful article. As I read these type of intereviews with the various actors, I'm beginning to like Emerson more as an actor and a person. His answers are so very smart and insightful. I would LOVE to sit down with him and banter around some of the ironies/symbology and stuff.
