Before Ben let Michael go he said they always keep their word. Michael kept his end of the bargain so Ben would keep his word and let Michael and Walt leave on the boat. Michael asked Ben if they were going to hurt his friends. Ben said no. A deal's a deal. So did Jack, Sawyer and Kate end up getting hurt? Did Ben keep his word? If he didn't keep his word about that, did he keep his word that Michael and Walt were able to leave the island?
Just a side question that I couldn't figure out.... when Michael asked Miss Klugh for the boat, how did he know they had a boat?
OK...good thoughts. I'm thinking that it's a good chance that Michael and Walt are on the island that the cages and such are on if it's indeed a different island. We know that Des (being a trained sailor) couldn't get away from the island, and what would make it possible for Mike and Walt? The only thought with that is that they expected or knew that something serious was going to happen in the hatch, and that that is the way that Ben knew that Mike would be able to get away from the island. Otherwise they were lying, and as we've seen Ben and the others have issues with keeping their word.

That's a good thought!
Oh yea! Patch guy probably told them that Locke and Des destroyed the computer. They didn't seem all that concerned about the purple sky.
I cried, "Oh, Lady Midnight, I fear that you grow old, the stars eat your body and the wind makes you cold." "If we cry now," she said, "it will just be ignored."
ben has an awful lot of monitors on his wall... are some of them connected to the pearl?? do all of the others have access to the monitors? who watches when ben isn't there? if they were watching then they knew what locke was planning to do... no one seemed concerned about the violetlite... has everyone on the island(s) become numb to strange phenomenon??? hope this is addressed in the remainder of the season...

Oh yeah... Patch Man. Good thinking. Hopefully we'll see him again in the first few episodes. And you're right about the sky. They just kind of looked at it like "that was kind of weird" and then went about their business. Like LL said, are they just used to weird happenings?
The other thing I was thinking about the boat... didn't Sawyer say that the boat was not meant for long distance travel? So Michael and Walt wouldn't have gotten very far.
Also, another thing I noticed today...in the orientation video, the guy (Mark Whitman aka Marvin Candle) says to take the Pala ferry back to the barracks. I episode 3.1 Kate is taking a shower in a place that looks like a barracks bathroom would look. I also just learned that the dock where they were is called the Pala Ferry Pier. So is that boat in fact the "Pala Ferry"?

my thought was that he gave michael coordinates that would have him intersect with some larger ship... something that would take them back to the civilized world...
