alex.... daddy=ben!!

Not true ..... Damon and Carlton pointed out that Jack himself expressed doubts at being a leader. That it was sort of forced upon him do to the circumstances. He told John, I'm not a leader and John said - everything seems to think you are. BTW - kind of an interesting thought when I rewatched that,John/Jack - the names are synonymous - think John F. Kennedy AKA Jack Kennedy. Just thought it was interesting. :)

Jack told them never to come back in an attempt to save their lives. He doesn't want them to come back and get killed as he now understands the lengths the others will go to and just how sadistic they really are. He is sacrificing himself for the greater good and in a way, I believe that he feels there's nothing left for him now anyway. Noone is going to rescue them. There's nowhere for him to go.
I'm going to bump up my thread of the screenshots from the blast doors map - I believe the words on the screen are identical to the nonsensical things written on it. I remmebered some of the phrases from there .... Everything changes and I believe God loves you as he loves jacob is there as well.
IF this is the case then we just found out another tidbit. IT would mean that the person who scribbled that on there was brainwashed by the others. I think it was Kelvin's old partner whose name I can't remmeber ATM.
I was wrong - lol - none of the phrases appear on the map, however, the phrases on the map are just as odd and I can't help but wonder if they are connected in some way ?
BTW - yes Snootch, I did pick up on the whole Kate/Jack/Sawyer thing. Damon and Carlton pointed out that she loves both mens. She does love Jack, but she is drawn to Sawyer because he is most like her. But the whole scene dissolved me to tears. And I'm not being all Jate here, but the very few scenes she's had with Jack have been more powerful than the ones with Sawyer. It's on a different level than just a physical attraction.
I'd say out of the Sawyer ones, the most powerful one was when he told her off about the letter. Where he leaves her standing there speechless. That scene was also very powerful.
And yes, Sawyers face showed it all, and his voice - the way it was soft and unsure when he was nudging her to help him get the boat ready for them to leave.
I can't wait for the scenes with Jack in the cage where Kate was. And what we'll find out about he and his ex-girlfriend/lover.
Oh - my question - the neck is like near the head and the tumor was near the neck - right ? Wouldn't it strike Juliet as odd if he started cutting down at the base of his spine like he did ?
I mean, when Kate was retelling the story, Jack was sewing up the same sack at the base of the spine - the nerves were all axposed. How is that ?
It was still cool though because he was going throgh nearly the same thing as kate was retelling the story.
I cried, "Oh, Lady Midnight, I fear that you grow old, the stars eat your body and the wind makes you cold." "If we cry now," she said, "it will just be ignored."

i am still not ready to throw in the towel and say that the others are sadistic and evil... they will go to great lengths however... juliet gave the order to kill... i think as a bluff the way that jack was bluffing...a sort of 'just in case he's not bluffing' bluff... pickett would have carried it out since he is mourning the loss of his wife... ben countered the order... the brain washing however is another point... is this how they will prevent another 'incident' from occuring?? if jack has given up on rescue, is he at the point where locke was last season... where the immmediate purpose is greater than the long range goal? will jack now 'push the button' for ben??

the island changes people... it gives them a second chance...
juliet changed since coming to the island... but still has some basic flaws... she was, in miami, insecure and dominated by her exhusband... she had skills but they were controlled but him and self-limited by her... on the island, she was able to become more assertive and controlled..she learned to stand up to those who want to dominate her and she learned to become a leader.... yet she maintains the concern for family and home.. the need to belong... and she has days when she still questions herself and her actions... as with any of us, she is a work in progress....
i want to revisit this theme as this year goes by....

Edmund Burke. Political theorist of the 18th century. So, another famous name snuck in there.
And I see someone else thought that Alpert's eyes looked strange. Was it indeed eyeliner?
Thought he looked a little like Nathan Petrelli.
And were those two shock moments for you as well? Juliette pulls back the curtain to reveal Miami and Edmund gets hit by the bus. Dharma must have some power if they can have a bus follow you around waiting for the right moment.
And not to forget the two guys in the hut in the snowstorm picking up signals. What happened with that bit of storyline?

Yes, those definitely were shocking. Especially since I thought Juliet was walking down the corridor of the the medical hatch on the island. I expected that Edmund would eventually get hit by a bus but not right at that moment... and I didn't expect it would be something we'd see but maybe that we'd learn about at a later time.
Maybe we'll see more of the guys in the hut next week. It will be Desmond's episode so hopefully we'll learn a bit more about Penny as well.
That whole link to Buddhism kinda explains it. Here's a part of it:
Our daily lives in the vast universe are integrally related to and can never be separated from time and space. How successful a person is and how effective one handles one’s affairs depend on one’s management of interpersonal relationships are managed, one’s utilization of time, one’s allocation of space. Without effective timing, we either move too quickly or too slowly and will bring about the resentment of others. Without proper spatial awareness, we end up either taking others’ space or robbing others of their advantageous locations, and we will annoy others. Thus, time and space have significant impacts on our daily existences.

You know it sounds somewhere between a devil and an alien, or maybe an artificial intelligence. Everyone on ABC is totally weirded out by it!! Another layer to Lost . . . . . .
Did you ever see "A Clockwork Orange"? I was young & thought some stuff was too icky. I sure do remember that brainwashing scene in CWO. The one in Lost was even worse, so unexpected and eerie and loud, yes like a jet engine!!!!
I cried, "Oh, Lady Midnight, I fear that you grow old, the stars eat your body and the wind makes you cold." "If we cry now," she said, "it will just be ignored."
It's kind of sad but, I read almost every spoileer there was so when I watched the show, I kinda knew what was goin on and what to expect. There were some foilers thogh. Of the ones that I read. But mostly everything I read did in fact develop in the show the way I read it. As soon as I saw them so this flashback thing with he rin the hall, I knew she was in Miami and it was before she got the invitation from Ethan and his college. I didn't actually see the Appollo logo on the bus, but I saw the pics from the set. And you wonder, how do I enjoy it if I know half of what's gonna happen ? I dunno. I just do.

i like spoilers but not the ones that tell everything... the ones that just give hints.... that way the surprise is there and the entertainment is grreater to me!!

didn't jack say the tumor was at L4, in the lumbar region? But then didn't he say it was in the C region later? and the x-rays he originally saw were more in the thoracic region, i do believe. he asked ben if he had numbness in his neck, but that might just have to do with the tumor in general and not the location...

Well, I dunno. I would think it'd be more likely that if you had numbness or ringling/pain in the neck and/or shoulder area it'd be an upper back problem and middle to lower would cause problems with legs and feet. That's always been my understanidng ... but I could be wrong.

if you go to a chiropractor check the picture on the wall next time of nerves and pressure points and what they effect... it is amazing that some pressure points for the feet are located in the middle of the back... i will check sometime tonite if i can to find this diagram and post it... it's surprising, really....
