I cried, "Oh, Lady Midnight, I fear that you grow old, the stars eat your body and the wind makes you cold." "If we cry now," she said, "it will just be ignored."
take this from a nature standpoint... i will see if my thoughts come together... nature doesn't really allow anything to die. if a tree or an animal does ceasre to exist, it is recycled... the remains are used to create more life... which sustains something that will give more life... the circle of life??? if jacob is nature, and nature is captured, time ceases to advance. the circle of life cannot rotate as it should... yet nature does not want organisms to die... richard, as an extension of nature and jacob, cannot recycle ben until his time comes... which it can't if time doesn't advance...
think of jacob as nature... imprisoned by the gods long ago... worshipped by the natives... nature won't die... nature can't be kept captive... it needs a way out of captivity to advance... what did dharma do to nature when it invaded the island??

If this is basically nature caught in a bottle. I'd have to wonder how long it's been like this. Seeing how the name "Jacob" is attached to the being/person in the cabin. I'd have to venture to say that this is something newer than the people who would have worshiped any gods of old. The name is too modern I'd venture to guess, and also I'd gather that if it was a native peoples that had captured Jacob the name would have been more native in tongue. So this makes me wonder something else. Did Henry have a hand in this happening? Is Jacob maybe a person that volonteered to test out a theory, and when it worked he was never let out? Or is this older than the Henry era group, and if that's the case I'd have to bet that Richards peoples are involved somehow. Maybe Jacob was one of there people, and they want him out, but there is maybe value in having him in that state. I.E. extended life, and also the abilty to heal faster, and things of the medicinal value. So is this a sign that Locke may be the next one to be put in Jacobs place?
New thoughts on this after seeing the post in the "whispers" thread. If he is nature, and it's possble he is the only in control of the whispers. Doesn't then seem very liekly that he is also in control or at the very least part of the Smoke Monster? Look at it like the Whispers are his voice , and the monster is his arm. It allows him some power over what's ging on on the island. He can control things that he deems a threat against the island. It would make sense also because of the sonic fence that was put up to stop the monster. If he is in fact trapped, and Henry is part of that. I'd gather that jacob would be very much looking to get some form of revenge or what have you on Henry or the others.
