We've got a couple of out of control wildfires burning in San Diego county right now. One has burned 14,000 acres and the other 8,000 acres and that's just today. It's kinda stressful right now because it was about this time and under these weather conditions that 4 years ago we had our major fires. It's supposed to be hot, dry and very windy the next 2-3 days. Last I heard there were about 12 fires in the southern california area. Please keep everyone in your prayers!
This is a satellite picture of the fires we had 4 years ago. It was really scary! So everyone is hoping we won't go through that again!
i am sorry to hear about the wildfires Island what caused them? how much do they have contained?
They're still investigating... one might be a downed power line. One fire is about 5% contained and I'm not sure of the other one. A couple of hours ago it was not contained at all.
Well things have gotten much worse. I'm not on evacuation watch but my friends are. They have already packed up and headed out to parents' houses rather than wait for a mandatory evacuation. Plus the smoke is just so bad where they are that it's better for them to go to a clearer area.
The officials are saying that it's going to be worse than the fires we had 4 years ago.
I went to the grocery store and there were a bunch of people in RV's and with travel trailers in the parking lot. The latest numbers were that 250,000 people have been evacuated throughout the county.
We've got 1000 fire units coming in from AZ, NV and N.CA to help. So hopefully they'll be able to get some control. They said that all the fires are less than 5% contained.
Here's a map of the fires going on right now. Plus there is another fire that is West of the Harris fire. I live a little to the right of the San Diego sign.
OUr prayers are with you and everyone out there. I really hope that the government steps in vry soon to help fight this. I know one report was saying that the biggest problem fighting the fires rigth now is that the wind is o bad that the planes and copters that are used to drop the massive amounts of water on these things can't fly. I know it's mother nature, and there's only so much you can do, but you'd think after 4 years ago, and with the tech that we have these day there'd be something more wwe could do to not only fight these, but to help prevent them. Ol' smokey can only do so much to help.

Thank you! It's really nice to hear that people are praying. You're right, the wind is the worst part of it all. I wish there was some way to prevent them. You would think that with downed powerlines probably being the cause, that they would work on getting the underground power going. It probably has a lot to do with funding and not having enough money to fix the problems.
The thing is the govmt. has the money, but blah blah.. let me just say that there' money that could be used for things like that instead of things not needed..
HINT HINT Dubya... Bring them home, and use the money for these kinds of things.
Can you go stay somewhere and get away from it all?
Right now my area is pretty safe. The fires are south and north and east. So everyone is heading west but so are the fires.
Then there's the ocean. Kinda pinned in
Yeah that's the scary thing. There's no way to head east because the fires are blocking the major highways that go east and there's no way to head north because those highways are closed off in certain parts.

Well the fire that I saw last night coming over the hill came down the hill overnight. It's now about 3 miles away. The southern part of my community has been evacuated because the fire is moving south west of here. So we are still not being evacuated but have things ready just in case.
Two more friends have been evacuated. One lives about an hour north of me and the other lives a couple of communities south. None of my family members have been evacuated though so that's a small blessing.
Is it only Tuesday? It's been a really long 2 days!
