The latest working-over is the Sci Fi Channel miniseries Tin Man, which begins a three-night run tonight. It is not a sideways or more adult view of one of the story's supporting players, along the lines of Wicked (the book, the musical); rather, it squeezes the Oz story through a filter woven from Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings and other scraps of pop mythology too numerous to mention.
Was Flash Gordon a series as well as a movie? I remember seeing the movie when I was probably 10 and remember not liking it at all but don't remember much about it.

Uh, Flash Gordon is a series right now on SciFi on Fridays.
25-30 years ago it was a movie.
25-30 years before that it was 2-3 serials in movie theaters starring Buster Crabbe. Who was also Tarzan for a while after being an Olympic medalist.
This series reminded of so many different things! I already liked 3 of the main actors to begin with. It seemed to come to an abrupt end! But still, it was a satisfying ending and wrapped it all up nicely.
