I hate poetry but I'm starting to like writing it but at the same time I hate trying to write it because I can never get it to work out for me when I try to force it.
Are you trying to fit it into a certain mold? Sometimes that can hold us up.
I have certain types of poems I have to write for my poetry writing class this semester. I have to write a traditional form (I'm trying to tackle the sonnet), three haiku, an ars poetica (I've written that one and it's actually pretty funny), a poem based on a family photograph, a poem inspired by a work of art, a poem about the film Il Postino, a cut-up poem (where you take a page out of various magazines/newspapers/etc and pull interesting lines and put them together as a poem), and a nature poem. Yea, I never was any good at trying to fit my poems into certain forms like that. haiku's are the most elusive to me .. I've never figured out the rules...
So far as I know, the haiku is a line of five syllables followed by a line of seven syllables followed by a line of five syllables and they're usually observations on nature.
