I cried, "Oh, Lady Midnight, I fear that you grow old, the stars eat your body and the wind makes you cold." "If we cry now," she said, "it will just be ignored."
Happy days are here again, fill up your pipe and smoke again.
Well that's not the happy news. The happy news is your sister is home from the hospital!!!
They discharged her April 30 after 12 weeks in the hospital. She is moving slow but seems to be getting stronger and back to her old routines already. :( Last week she came home for a day trip twice. Just getting out into the fresh air and sunshine made a big difference on her recovery.
Last weekend dad ended up in the hospital again. His potassium level was sky high and they were worried about a heart attack. They got to share the same room for 3 days. When dad got out, mother wanted out too.
We got dad set up on hospice care now. A nurse comes out twice a week for now to take care of him. They have upped his pain meds again. He has lots of pain in the genital area. Now they are talking about giving him Methadone for pain. We also got a Lifeline Medical Alert system for him in case he falls when no one is around.
Mother will be on a home care program too for a while. The wound care team will come out every 3 days to change the dressings on her tummy. Physical therapy and occupational therapy will come out to the house also for rehab. She will have help with her ostomy bag too for a short time. Now she has to learn to monitor her blood sugars. They say she has developed diabetes.
I was going to go home after getting him secure enough not to worry about him until he went back in the hospital. Then I was going to go home Monday this week until I found out mother was coming home. She can't take care of him and herself yet. So my goal is to go back to work by May 7th. That way I can observe them to see how well they are taking care of themselves, remembering their meds, cooking, cleaning, and daily life for about one week. I have been on a family medical leave through work since April 7th living up here. When Cindy comes up for the weekend, I have been able to go home for a day here and there.
I am sure she would like to hear from her sisters. She never was much to call people just to talk, but would like to visit. You know she will be feeling better when she gets on the computer to catch up on emails. Hopefully that will happen soon.
Hope everyone else is doing good and back to work and normal activities. Looking forward to seeing and hearing from you all again soon.
