another question: does Mick close the door with his hand or his foot at the end of the episode?

I think his foot.  I'd have to watch the video in the moonlight thread to be sure, though.

i've watched it countless times and i still can't tell for sure.

It's too difficult to tell.  But in real life the door would have slammed harder if he'd used his hand to shut the door while they kept standing right where they were.  He would get a softer shut if he used his foot.

hmmmmmmm, ok, different question: what does everyone like better? Mick closing the door with his hand or foot?

Foot.  It creates a less awkward position if he does it that way.  Writing a fanfic?

shh.gif it's a surprise

i would think it would be more awkward if he did it with his foot. the door it pretty far open and he would have to hook his heel around it just right to close it without getting off balanced

Yeah, but he has to lean so far back to shut the door as gently as it was shut in the show if he were doing that with his hand.

Not in the night out, but you might want to avoid the Bones thread if you don't want to see my emoticon reaction to the episode.

No idea.  I mostly go by feel with everything I write.  When it feels ready, I end it.

Just stopping in to give KIL a little snippet that I know she'll be interested in.

Yoo Higuchi Talks Tales Of Vesperia

Namco Bandais Tales series has a history of marrying real-time combat and more conventional RPG storytelling. In the upcoming Tales of Vesperia, the first next-gen release for the series, new themes such as teamwork and leadership enter the mix. We spoke with producer Yoo Higuchi about the jump to new hardware, morality and, of course, humor.

Game Informer: Could you begin by giving us an overview of the story and the main characters?

Yoo Higuchi: The games two central characters are Yuri, a former knight, and Flynn, the current head of the knights. The two were childhood friends, but have since drifted apart based on ideological differences. Yuri believes in securing justice by any means necessary, even if this means going beyond the boundaries of what society has deemed to be fair. Flynn takes the opposite to this approach, following the rules and laws as dictated by the government to achieve his own brand of justice. Ironically, the two are ultimately in pursuit of the same goal, but have led to becoming intense rivals over time.

GI: How will the battle system move forward from the Linear Motion Battle System of previous installments?

Higuchi: Battles in Tales of Vesperia now take place on a larger scale than before larger battlefields, more enemies on screen at once and the potential for truly huge opponents. Aside from this increased scale, weve implemented new critical strikes, which will let players take down enemies in a single hit if the correct battle criteria are met. Were also giving players more incentive to do their best in battle by grading them on a number of factors after each fight. If they do well, this grade will award them special materials, which can then be crafted into more powerful equipment.

GI: Will the cinematics be hand-drawn, CG or a mix of the two?

Higuchi: The game will feature a combination of animated and in-engine cinematics.

GI: What aspect of the game do you think Tales fans will be the most excited about?

Higuchi: The games graphics are sure to make the biggest impression at first. The move to an HD console has allowed us to try a lot of new techniques that still capture the series warm and hand-drawn look. There are certain areas in which weve actually surpassed traditional animation and feel cant be found in other games.

GI: Will gamers see any familiar faces from other Tales games in Vesperia?

Higuchi: Yes. Although the games main story is totally new with a new cast of characters, players can still find some familiar faces in certain situations.

GI: Are there any features in the game what wouldnt have been possible using last-gen hardware?

Higuchi: The games battle system gets the biggest upgrade from the Xbox 360 hardware, allowing us to have more enemies on screen and even truly massive opponents that weve never been able to implement before.

GI: What factors drove the decision to make this game Xbox 360 exclusive?

Higuchi: The biggest reason is that we wanted to start work on an HD Tales game after finishing Tales of the Abyss, and the Xbox 360 made the most sense as a development platform for us at the time.

GI: In terms of the Tales series as a whole, how does Tales of Vesperia fit in thematically with other entries? Is it optimistic in tone, or darker? Is there still a focus on humorous moments?

Higuchi: Tales of Vesperia is not a coming of age story, but introduces new themes such as teamwork and leadership. Since its not tied to any other games in the series, were able to explore these different themes freely while adding to fan-favorite aspects such as our battle system. We are trying to appeal to a slightly older audience with this game, so a lot of what you see from a morality standpoint will be up to the player to judge on their own value system.

Of course, were still planning to utilize humor in our storytelling
