Thanks. It's nothing serious. My left knee just cramps up really bad when I'm couped up in a sitting position in a tight space for a long time.

I got to work by the horses a couple of nights this week. It was a nice spot. Except for those darn mosquitos! I'm dealing with a bunch of bites again...

i had to go catch a horse the other day biggrin

it got out of the yard where it should have been so i had to go catch it. it belongs to a neighbor of ours.

horseflies are really nasty

Did the horse make it difficult for you to catch it? Sometimes they can be tricksy that way.

I've never been bit by a horsefly, but I don't have to to know that would be no fun. Those suckers are huge!

IR, if you find you're guarding horses again, you'll want to go to a Petsmart or Petco, or an IFA if they have any in CA, and get horse cookies and a bucket. If any horses escape, just have the cookies in a bucket and shake it. The curiosity will quite likely overcome skittishness and not-wanting-to-be-caught attitudes.

it didn't try to run from me or anything, and it had a halter on. it didn't want to walk though with just me pulling on the halter, and i didn't have any rope in my truck to tie to it( the horse was walking up the dirt road, that's why i was in my truck) but i just happened to spot a piece of orange baleing twine on the road so i got out and used that to lead the horse back to the house. i had to go back and pick up my truck later, of course.

You're welcome. It would help, too, if you slipped the horses a cookie or two in the night. That way if one escapes, and they've seen where you get the cookies from, they'd be even more likely to make a beeline for the bucket and then you don't have to waste time and energy trying to catch them. (Bored horses will play with whatever they can, most often whatever locking mechanism holds them in their stall, paddock, corral, or pasture. Really clever ones will eventually figure out how to get out if it's at all possible. And there's always the off-chance that someone will forget to latch the gate properly and the horses then will use that to their advantage to stage a jail-break.)
