Damon Lindelof [reveals]: Libby's got this mysterious backstory, of which we've only given you the tip of the iceberg. We know she's spent some time in the mental institution with Hurley, and the idea of killing her before she had an opportunity to explain how she got there... we have a master plan for how we're going to tell that story, but it's all posthumous. You'll start to learn Libby's moves through flashbacks over the course of the next season. So we're not done with Cynthia, but Libby is dead.
Hmmm...... follow me here ..... it's just a little stab , not something I'm completely delving into ..
Cynthia is doing her show .... Libby is suposedly dead. This gives ABc the ability to still use her while she's on the sitcom. What if they use her in another way after they've played all the flashbacks stuff ... maybe she has a twin... Hmmm
Chia and I have had a few talks lately about the twin idea. i'm really starting to think that is a big part of this. Look at Dr. Candle, and the guy (forget the name) in the Pearl video

Wickman...and they're in the flame hatch...hehe I stole that one from the misfit...tee hee.
I cried, "Oh, Lady Midnight, I fear that you grow old, the stars eat your body and the wind makes you cold." "If we cry now," she said, "it will just be ignored."
i still think it would be an interesting twist if libby and penny were sisters... or half-sisters... and this would link the two of them to desmond.... or maybe libby married a widmore... a son?

they say libby's story willl be told in the flashbacks of some of the LOSTies... it will be interesting to hear who she was and why she was falling for hurley...

I've heard it said that she was after Hurley as Rvenge for her husband being killed in the "Deck" incident. That is funny if it happens. I've said that since she first showed any interest in him.

the romantic in me doesn't want her to be after him for revenge... the mother/ professional wants this to be ahelping relationship.. together to grow to be happy...
OMG!! just had a thought!! what if she was the one who did something... gave him something... so that he would hallucinate and see dave again????

She very well could have done that. She would have known what meds he was taking in the looney bin. The catch with that being where did she get it after the crash. i'm geussing a bottle of pills wasn't the first thing on her mind during the crash. But if she did have them, and her possible connections with DHarma/Hanso would make the "Faked" crash scenerio seem more likely.

Very true. i know the only other show that I kept any serious thoughts going in was X-Files. I stopped watching after season 4, but it is still one I'll spend a day watching when they have the marathons on.

Seems that we will be getting a good dose of her in FB's throughout season 3. First I have to say it's still a curious thing that Chia and I researched that she was listed in every single episode since the Pilot epi, but wasn't shown on the screen till season2. So I'm thinking that we will indeed find out that her husband "Dave" was on the beck that Hurley was involved in making crash. I think we'll also find that he will be the same "Dave" from his visions. It'll be part of what he was using as a way to cope with it all. Hurley will also remember where he had seen her before. It'll be from the looney bin, and not the deck though. I like the thinking that (not sure was it LL) has been mentioned about her being sister to Penny Widmore. I just don't see that being something they would do. I can believe that they knew one another from there closeness to Dharma/Hanso, and that Penny actually had planted Libby in the airport to run into Desmond and to find a way to give him the boat. It's Penny's way of keeping tabs on Des, and that's why they would have done that. Also to help him get through the race so he could get back to Penny.

flashbacks of this wormfood will be interesting... will she be the 'oh my' at the hiatus?? dave is not real.. not a part of libby... libby's interrelationships with the LOSTies may floor us... what's her attachment to sayid??
Back up to where you guys were talking about Libby giving Hurley the meds to see Dave .... dunno if you remmeber back on the ABC board I said that it was a possibility that she hypnotized Hurley to see Dave? She had to know something was going on when he was on the cliff and almost jumped after Dave. She came up with a very quick response but there was a hesitation also in her voice when she said Sun was with Jin and translated... I thought that sounded very fishy.
See, I guess I tend to be a bit suspicious sometimes and if it were me, I would have mentione dit to Sun to see what she said. But that's just me. I've gotten pretty good at sniffing out inconsistencies in someones story...
Anyone ever stop to think that we never see Hurley having visions of Dave unless Libby is somewhere around? He didn't have one singel vision in season 1. IT wasn't until she joined the losties that he had them.
Even when they first got the food, he didn't have the visions. When he started to blow the food up and then when he gave the food out to everyone - he didn't have the visions then.
Lion that's true. i'm thinking that it has something to do with his comfort level with the losties. He was cool with them, because they didin't judge him so his weight wasn't an issue.
Then when Libby came around he got self concious about his weight, and it got into his mind that he needed to pull away to avoid rejection.

Um - I was thinking more along the lines of her dead hubby Dave. LIke, if it wasn't that she was directly and intentionally the cause then perhaps she was unintentionally projecting Dave onto Hurley....

Perhaps her own dillusions somehow Hurley picked up on in some subconcious level. Dave doesn't seem to appear unless Libby is around - I find that a bit interesting.
