sometimes when we 'look at the story to see what happens' we are really looking at the story to see what we wnat to hvae happen... jack and kate... maybe ethey willl end up together... maybe she will find someone else entirely... maybe thet will just have a long close friendship... wouldn't that be better than anything?????

I actually think I do remember hearing about the Jate kiss before the episode. Not that I want to go looking, but I'm sure I did hear that it was coming. Because I actually think I heard it froma Skater. I believe it may have been Fricks...She was mentiong that it was spoiled somewhere, and that it was all cool because she'd end up Skate or something like that. So who knows.. I don't look to much into spoilers other than giving me another way to look at the show, and make me think of other things that could be going on. It's all part of the fun.

the look between jack and kate... perhaps it was just two leaders conveying the knowledge that their plan is working and being followed... the friendship in any relationship is far more important than any romantic or sexual involvement....

Don't recall it. The thing is, as I posted in another thread. I'm a Jater, but not so much that I'd sacrifice plot for it. The story is more important. If it deminished a good story I wouldn't like that!
The thing that I don't really like about Kate is the lack of honesty. It's very important to have that. Also, I don't like how she likes to try to prove herself so much. I'm going to carry the bomb, I'm going on the hike..I'm doing this and that. She'd be a better help if she could support instead of trying to prove a point.

there are alot of interesting dynanmics between kate and jack... they are friends more than anything... and have an attraction to each other... they work well together and her respect is important to him... kate looks up to jack and does see him as a protector... someone who will eventually accept her and all her flaws... and sees his need to think thru things...
she does seem to have a tendency to point out some of his flaws, too... the tats... the statement on the trek together when they ended up in the net... something like being two imperfect people... but she still supports him...

The Locke and Walt scene was at the tail end of the pilot pt. 2. When he's setting up the Backgammon board. Talking about Mesapotamia, and the game being older than Jesus.

it was still late in the show... jack and kate really had the major parts in th pilot... she learned from him in the beginning... perhaps studying him for future alliances or ally?? then she just got caught up in him...
I agree that she was testing the waters for who she'd be safe with. Then she found later in the season that her past wasn't an issue for the people on the island. She was more important to them for what she'd done on the island than for things from here past that they knew nothing about.

we can see some of kate's craftiness when she robbed the bank.. yet she was able to turn this into more courage than any thing else on the island... until she becomes self serving... and that is her downfall.. the more she does for others the stonger she becomes....
That's the thing about it. Jack has never judged her for what she may or may not have done in the past, he's only wanted to know that he can trust her and that she'll be honest with him. And Jack has a way of bringing out the good in her. I think she wants that in her life. But can she overcome the run and hide mentality?
When they were shooting those beginning parts of the show, Jack was supposed to die when they got to the c0ckpit. The monster was supposed to have ripped him out of the plane and it was his body they were supposed to find in the tree. Michael Keaton was supposed to play Jack, but backed out when they decided Jack was going to live. Kate was supposed to be a married woman whose husband was in the tail section when the plane went down. She was supposed to be worried whether or not he was dead or alive. Sawyer was supposed to be older and more polished.

kate has done much good on the island and only seems o have made one selfish decision.. following when the boys went out to get michael.... that is the only thing jack was irked with her about....
Well, no not really. She tried to manipulate a place on the raft. She was the one who got Sun to poisen Jins water.
She also tried to trick Jack when they went to get the key off the Marshalls body. She couldn't trust Jack to do it together. He was miffed at her behavior, but he didn't shut her out. She also wanted for some reason .. I guess to prove she was macho? I dunno. But she fought to carry the dynomite which she should have let Jack do.
But, I agree in that she has done alot of good for others on the island. I feel she has a good heart, she's just plagued by all the self-preservation tactics that are engrained in her personality.

Well, I don't know that he had alot to have to accept about Sarah. She seemed to be wonderful until she left him for another guy. However, I will say this, she was engaged when she had her accident, wasn't she? Did the guy leave her? Or did she leave him? Cause if she left him, I'd have been thinking she'd do the same thing again. Most people who do that continue the pattern.
