A plant???? Like a rodadendran???? Sorry had to do it. But that was my first thought originally..but after some talk with Chia we came up with something a bit more interesting that could be possible.

One theory we came up with was that sine she was married to Widmore that maybe they had her put into the institution because she found out about what they were up to. (they being Widmore, Hanso, and Dharma) So to protect themselves she was put into the silly farm, and drugged up to keep her out of it. She stays shut up, and no problems. Bu tas you could tell in the "Dave" episode she was very much aware of the fact that she was taking drugs, and maybe even was "Cheeking" the pills and not really taking them. She finally gets released due to not being wacked out from the drugs(or escapes). While on the run she changes her hair color to what she had during the time from the crash. Knowing she needed to run and hide from those people that put her into the looney bin she goes and sells her sailboat to Desmond for his race around the world. So off she runs to Ausie land to hide. During this time her boat (desmonds now) is nearing the island. Seeing the ship, and thinking it's her they force the boat to crash. Then when they realize that it's Des and not Libby they force him into the hatch to keep him from escaping, and telling anyone about the island. In the meantime..after finding out she is in Australia, and not on the boat they take down the plane to get to her.

Now if this is possible..remember you heard this theory here first.We started putting this together on May 21st 2006. (in case it happens Chia aand I can boast and strut)

And if this is possible..Libby could have indeed have been a pysciatrist at one time for real. She may have worked for Dharma or Hanso. During that time she met Widmore, and got married. But after being brought in on some of their more secret projects she became disgusted with it, and wanted out. That would be when she was put in the institution. (widmore loved her, and wouldn't allow her to be killed)

So that's what Chia and i talked about this AM after work in the parking lot.

Yes they did..She's going to have more of her background shown through opther FB's.

I think if it's anyone...It'll end up being Claire...Charlie F's things up again, and Big H moves in to protect her this time. She sees his soft demeanor as a good role model for Aaron

I don't know if Hurley is the "fatherly" type though. Do you think? Has he taken an interest in Aaron? I don't remember.

He's not really connected yet, but after losing Libby..after a while he might want to lose his loneliness that I see in his future.

I've been straining my brain since you said that about Libby - okay who's CHARLES Widmore? You mean Cliff? His wife was named Shannon. What sailboat? Any ways, here's an idea - it's a sick reality show, with all the contestants selected beforehand- backgrounds video taped and plopped on this island for our viewing pleasure. Drugged (like Michael MUST be) minipulated to make the SHOW more interesting, but not allowed to fall in love( or they get kicked off the show(DIE).

Charles Widmore is the owner of the Widmore construction...It was shown during one epi this season..

Chia found the cast list thing this am for like the first 10 episodes from season 1. Then i did the rest today at home. A good portion of this is of course speculation, but it's something we both agree sounds really possible. The Libby info...some from IMDB, and some from other things like spoilerflix,and stuff like that.

It's info again from IMDB...But that was what you saw coming in towards the beach in the last epi...just found out that it was Des on there, and that Libby sold it to him at some time.

Ok....so we know there is a fatherly instinct in Hurley. Does this mean after he gets back that when (not if)...when Charlie F's things up with Claire again that he may be the new protector for her? I would be interested in that. Could make for a great dynamic between him and Charlie also.

Lion..first I liked this section. While I like most of this theory, I don't buy that Libby gave/sold Desmond the boat on accident not knowing that she would wind up sending him to the island. Personally, I think she was part of the plot to get him there. I'm thinking it was a way for Desmonds girl's father to get him out of her life permenantly.

It would make sense that he would do something like that. Maybe he found out that his daughter had found him, and rather than try to deal with him because it didn't stop them from getting in contact. He did indeed use Libby to get him to the island. Thinking that he'd never get off the island. And if that's the case it makes me think of Kelvin. We know he was in Iraq during the first gulf war. So what did he maybe do that dharma or Hanso were afraid that he would spill the beans about??

libby... as a therapist... certainly knew some techniques and the lingo of therapy and sounded convincing.... i found her at times to be a bit too condesending and willing to please rather than encouraging a person to look at themselves and the need to change and evolve... she spent too much time telling people about themselves and what they are rather than getting them to realize this themselves.. which is where therapy really works...

if she were truly a psycho-therapist, trained in the art, her approach to therapy would have been different... i do not think she was really a trained psycho-therapist.. but rather, someone who may have practiced the skills... or learned the skills by watching others...

I think that Libby was just a person who learned enough from being around it to talk the talk. I think whatever her life was after the looney bin. She was just a kept woman before it. Married into money young, and never wanted for anything.

What if Libby was really a phsychiatrist or phsychotherapist who found out a little TOO much about what was going on at the clinic and was taken and drugged up so that she'd be looney? Honestly though, I still think she had something to do with Hurley having visions of Dave..

It's very possible she could have, but i don't think she had the means to do that unless she had some knowledge of herbs, and alchemy to find things on the island to use to do that. I geuss all that's really needed is maybe a hallucinagin(sp) but then I think people might have noticed him being all tripped out and tweaked.

You odn't need drugs to hypnotize someone actually, it can take a matter of a minute or two for some people. and then all it takes is a trigger for him to go back. In real life, hypnotism doesnt quite work like that, but in tv land, people get hypnotized, they can then get a trigger planted into their subconscious and as soon as that trigger is released, they submit to whatever that trigger releases in them.

Say I hypnotize you to quack when you see or hear the word treehouse. Well, you log on the computer, come to the forum, you see the word treehouse and you start quacking like a duck!
