hey snootch i noticed you read The Stand, GOOD book, one of my favorites by King. His best As far as his his best though in the fantasy vein, my props would have to go the Dark Tower Series and The Talisman. They are kinda hard to start but once you get into them they are great, and have connections to the Stand. There are some interesting parrallels to Lost in them as well. And the main character in The Talisman is named Jack Sawyer don't think that's a coincience

The Stand was pretty good. I just wish Stephen King would chill abit on the vulgarity. I know the idea is to keep it real, but he doesn't have to keep it THAT real.  I still like his stuff though.

You didn't tell me you like Wolverine!!!!!!  Logan is my second fav ex-man, my first is Angel.

I just finished reading "My Sisters Keeper" by Jodi Picoult.

Anyone read this one?  Pretty good.

The Talisman is good read, relativly easy. The Dark Tower series,  the first book is a bit difficult but if you get the revised edition it's much easier to get into, and once you start getting into it you get hooked. There's seven books in that series and they each get progressivly better. Good characters and a good story with heavy mythology involved.  He creates some very interesting and connected worlds in those so i highly recommend it. And it's all finished too so you don't have to worry about waiting for a book to come out.

I tend to read books by authors after i try a particular story and like it. My theory is if i like the first one i should make a point of trying anything else he/she has written. I am currently tracking down and reading anything written by S. M. STIRLING, he has written a group of alternate history novels which seem to be highly addictive, i am currently reading "conquistador", the fifth novel of it's type. Another author you might not be familiar with is RANDY WAYNE WHITE, who writes about florida in general and his lead character, doc ford, is as highly addicitive a person you would ever like to meet.

I've been doing that very same thing for more years than i care to count. I've read everything i can find by LOUIS LAMOUR and CARL HIASSON. I have a very large collection of pocket type books mixed with quite a few hardcovers, close to a thousand pocket type and nearly five hundred hardcovers. You can probably guess what i do in my spare time. Another favorite author is DICK FRANCIS who generally writes more or less about horses and/or horse racing. I like most any type of story as long as it is well written and keeps moving along. Since i retired allmost a year ago i have been in hog heaven, lots of time and enough money to do anything i want, not hard to take at all

Ah ..... so you're partial to cowboys then???   I have a friend who loves anything and everything western and when not at work proudly wears his cowboy hat.

Well, you'll be sure to harass me come Football season cause I've been a Cowboys fan since I was probably about 14 or 15.  Why? I have no idea.  I just picked a team and the Cowboys were it!   College is definately Alabama.  I know, what about the Saints and LSU ... well....

what can I say? I wish them well, but I have my favs.
