Just to say "Hello" to everyone. Have to go back to proofreading my kid's college paper on the methods of teaching mathematics.
As for Lost. Well, it was, of course, another episode where you do not want it to end and want more information when it does. Would have been nice to have seen the other folks on the beach but ya can only cram so much in. Scene of the airliner breaking up was a fantastic visual as well as spooky when you think of it as real and think of what the people inside are going through.
Good to see you stopping in Gray.. I agree with that thought on the plane...it made me think a bit about what the United 93 folks must have gone through in that tragic time.

FYI: I saw something on TV the other week tracing Flight 93 and they indicated the plane went into the ground while flying upside down in an apparent attempt to quell the passenger revolt. This is the only time I heard of that aspect.
And for Lost; look up Molokai and leper. Might be an interesting comparison to the Others and their village and their lack of activity. You may have noted that it did not seem like anyone was exactly busy with anything of import when they were rocked and watched the plane come apart.
Thanks Gray... I hadn't heard that about the plane, but after seeing the movie the other day I got the feeling that they were doing what they could to keep the passangers in check. I'm sure that's something that they really may not have known at the time of the filming.
I don't know where I put my posts on my thoughts about last nights eppys but I didn't put them here Oh well, here goes.
1. It's worthwhile to note that while people still subscribe to the idea that The Others could actually be good people, Henry did leave one of his own people (Juliet) to drown with jack by slamming the door on her.
2. I posted this somewhere last night after watching, I said the same thing Snootch did, that I'll almost bet that the question mark on the blast door map belongs to the location of the "Other Village" and not the Pearl.
3. The location of the Village leads me to believe that the others have bene in and out of all the other hatches on a weekly or daily basis. The plane wreckage on either side were both and hour from the village. This also supports my idea that Micheals conversation with Walt was actually a conversation with one of the others. They have said that the cigarrette found in the Pearl was supposed to appear recently smoked to indicate that someone had recently been there.
4. It actually reminds me of The Village by M. Knight Shyamalan where these people, college professor people actually. Ok, one of them was a college professor at least, founds this Village inside a National Park and they set it up like it's in the Pioneer days. This was he big reveal which so many people misse dabout it, and what I LOVED about it. As with Hitch****, what you think you're watching isn't what you're watching. You find out the monster is not real, but fabricated by the Village leadership to prevent their children and decendants from leaving the Village, and double whammy, the Village is actually sitting there in modern day times and it's not in the Pioneer days. It's alot like this in Lost where you think these people are uncivilized and they are actually almost too civilized .... I mean Donna reed was sitting there making muffins in her kitchen!
5. There is mutiny brewing among the ranks. Juliette gets a small verbal attack by one of her guests by saying that ben wouldn't like the book and that's why he's not there. Then Ben looks at it in her hand after the EarthQuake and says - " Oh, I guess I'm not in the book club anymore. " And he slams the underwater hatch door in her face literally. She gives him a cold shoulder walking away from him when he tells her good job.
6. I am not convinced that Danielle is the incident because Dr. Candle states that the incident is what caused the button to have to be pushed. Now, why did the button have to be pushed? To prevent the magnetic whatever it was thing from building up and supposedly potentially destroying the world. SO, this thin did not have that potential in the past, but the incident apprarently caused the instability and therefore needed the pressure release every 108 minutes to prevent the overload.
7. Juliette says " It doesn't mater who we were, it only maters who we are.
8. Kate, Sawyer and Jack are all at the same hatch. Jack is underwater and the other two are above ground outside. I know this because the Hydra hatch logo was on the metal thing outside of Sawyers cage. The interesting little tidbit is that the Hydra was a creature also weaved within the mythical underworld story involving hercules, Cerberus and all that. This is why I am led to believe that the foot is going to be related to the Staue of Colossus since he too was related to the same mythological characters linked together. Also, there is the stone sculpture which appears to be a replica of Stonehendge, which I'm not certain how that fits into the mythology there.
9. Jack had the tattoes when he attacked his father. he did not have the tattoo's at his wedding. SO, the tattoo's happened somewhere in between.
10. The plane we saw in the air belonged to flight 815. I say this because Specifically Ethan was told to go to the nose and Goodwin the tail. I agree that The Others have been handpicking people to manipulate onto the island, but I believe that their handpicking is done through their contact with the real world. Their contacts include Paik, and Widmore, and the mental instutution Hurley was in. As far as other planes going over and not seeing the Village .... they have been pretty much invisible all these years by the magnetic shield so noone would see them. The Losties wouldn't have seen them from the plane because, well, who's looking out the window at the scenery when the plane is splitting in half and people are being tossed inside it like rubber balls ?
11. I still maintain that part of, if not the main people behind this whole experiment/research kind of thing is some form of military/govornmental thing. Check out some of the military conections already - Kates father - military, Desmond - Military, Sayid - Military, Kelvin - Military ..... not only that, but nearly all of them crossed paths with one or more of the other. Who else will have a military connection? Personally, I believe it will be part of a very very very secretive, very deeply underground rogue military as in StargateSG1. CIA, FBI and organizations such as these have the goods one everyone, your life is an open book to them.
12. I find it interesting that Juliette says to Jack " This is your life." Thsi is the "underworld" in a manner of speaking, which could translate into hell, and here's the book that reveals all of your past and your mistakes and sins, so to speak , sitting there being read to you. Interesting.
13. Yes, Benjamin was the youngest son of Jacob. Now, here's basically the deal with that. You've got Abraham right .... God made a covenant with Abraham that he would make a whole nation from his decendants. Abraham thought that he could make that happen through getting a kid from basically his maidservant, and she had Ishmael. but he was not the one that God promised this nation would come from. So, Sarah .. Abrahams wife gave birth to Isaac, who was the one God promised to be Abrhams true heir. God asked Abraham to offer Isaac as a sacrifice to test him. ( He didn't let Abraham do it though.) Anyway, Isaac had Jacob and Esau. Jacob stole Esau's inheritance by decieving his father into thinking he was Esau. So, Jacob's name was changed to Israel - Jacob was also the one who wrestled the angel and his hip was dislocated. This is when his name was changed to Israel. SO, Jacob had 12 sons who became the 12 tribes of Israel. Joseph was the youngest in the beginning. His brothers were jealous of him and sold him into slavery. However, Joseph wound up being in a high position when he was older and when his brothers came to Egypt to where he was, they didn't recognize them and he played games with them. He toyed with them and used Benjamin as part of the game. He put something in Benjamins pack or with hsi things and then caught him for stealing. Then eventually Joseph told them who he was, and he wound up providing for his family during the famine in thier home.
When you look at it - there are some interesting parallels. And possible future applications. The big one I see is the two brothers theme. One is sort of wild and more ...I can't think of the word, nature oriented where the other is more domesticated and refined in a way. One brother has somethign the other either wanted/desired or had and was taken from him. There's alot of sibling rivalry in the stories. One sibling exalted over the other and the other sibling developing hatred and jealousy because of it. What are siblings capable of doing to one another in such a situation? What would they resort to? It's intersting - to me anyway.
ALSO, another thing worth mentioning is that in the season finale last year, I got the impression that Benry wanted the failsafe to be released. He was not the least bit surprised or frightened by it when it was released. I recall when he egged Locke on about how he never pushed the button ... how he smirked knowing he'd gotten to Locke. How he prodded jack and Locke over why they weren't mor curious about the hatch and what it was, why it was and all that.
I cried, "Oh, Lady Midnight, I fear that you grow old, the stars eat your body and the wind makes you cold." "If we cry now," she said, "it will just be ignored."
thank you lioni!! good post!!! brother aginst brother... hmmm... everyone thought that locke and jack wouls split into 2 camps during season 1... didn't happen...
could jack and sawyer be metaphorical brothers? one wild, one tame... and kate the disputed territory? thus keeping her in a state of indecision and weaving back and forth between them...
the book brw was 'carrie' by stephen king.... comments on that???
I was really thinking along the lines of the Others and who they divided with? Perhaps the two groups are offsprings of rivalry brothers ? ONe maybe envious of the other because the one is favored by the father an the other is not or percieves that he is not? Think about Karamizov - Two brothers???
Just to note one little thing: the village is inside a crater. Significance? I dunno.
Will the next 5 episodes represent the 14 days that will not be pleasant for Kate? Will we then have a big cliffhanger to hold us over while Lost is gone for so long?

I'd have to think it's first of all an obvious source of renewable power. Either from Steam or heat being converted to power. It's absolutely going to be something that has a effect at some point in the series. Maybe that is part of what the EM set up was used to help control?? I don't really know enough on that stuff (man Volts it's times like this you are missed more than normal) to make a real good judgment.
That is still an option to consider, but I'm thinking that's a bit to modern for a power source...and if they are in a crater it's very unlikely that it's totally dead so there is no heat or steam being created from it.
i'm not denying that Lion, but since it's not a thing that really anyone has heard of until the recent deal that they are shooting for I'm wondering how the writers would have even found out about it.
Okee Dookie.... I was going to look at the newe ABC LOST site, and it has the promo with stuff from the new epi in it....did anyone else catch the white dove (like from Charlies dream on the beach) flying across just after Benry tells ethan to head to the fusealage, and the cam is panning out from the others little town??

The following is something that a poster on the other board noted. I think it is an excellent point:
I think the lyrics are talking about her (Juliet) and Jack when it says "And you may find somebody kind to help and understand you/ Someone who is just like you and needs a gentle hand to/ Guide them along"
I was trying to remember the name of the somg Gray. I was geussing there was something to it since almost every song on the show is there for one reason or another.
