oh my!!! what a cerebral show... so much in the way of behavioral modification in this epi... so much that will come to lite as the seaon continues...
why these 3?
will they have the most difficult - or the easiest- behaviors to change?
are their changes going to effect the rest of the LOSTies the most?
is the religious element of locke, eko, rose and,... ew... charlie... more powerful... or a challenge.. or what to tackle first??? does man need something to believe in to exist? more than just himself?
jack kate ans sawyer believe that they must do in order to achieve... not so with the religious element...
The fact that they made it a fact to point out through showing that Kate and Jack had been poked and had to remove the bandage, but not Sawyer....
Then also with this is that Juliet made a very direct reference to the fact that Jack was drugged. This leads me to believe that him and Kate (maybe Sawyer) were drugged so as to allow for easy transport to their place from the dock. BUT........ This brings me back to something from season 1 (pilot epi)...I've always stood up and said that Jack was NOT on the plane. I'm still going to stick wiht this until proven otherwise, but now I'm adding Kate to that. I know the epi's have shown that she was on the plane, but if I'm wrong let me know... Wasn't it Kate that came stumbling out of the jungle when Jack was looking to sew himself up?? I'm starting to wonder if she was also out there ahead of time. I know after tonight, and seeing the plane coming down from their living area that it's very unlikely now, but it's not out of the realm of possibility.
Well that's been the sticking point for me. Why would Jack pass out, but not her?? I geuss if he was (and he very well could have been) on the plane the alcohol could have helped that. He was drinking on the flight.

did Jack get the mask on when he was on the plane? i know that Kate did and that might have helped her not black out
FMA_AishaKitty wrote: ohh yeah! and it never showed Jack getting an oxygen mask but Kate did
Well actually I do remeber seeing Jack with the mask... when he was holing it on his face he looked over at Rose. you are right!!!! sorry i had to go watch that scene i forgot
Too many people saw Jack at the airport and on the plane. UNless you're saying peoples memories have been altered.
Also, another clue that the others are bad people - Ben slammed the door on Juliet.
BTW, those were not dolphins above Jacks head. Those were whales. I know what a whale song sounds like. Dolphins are jibber jabbery. Whales have very sad and it's a fuller sound. Those were whale songs, not dolphins.
There's definately some sort of devision even between the others. It's subtle - but it's there.

Kate posted this in the night out thread but I really liked it and wanted to move it here.

question i have.. what is the link betwwen the stand and a tale of two cities??? the stand deals with good v.evil... to2c is about doing what is right and sacrifice for the greater goood... does that happen in the stand??? where are our stephen king fans???

jack was in an aquarium... as if to say that his life was a fishbowl (two LOST souls swimming in a fishbowl...) and he was barely keeping his head above water trying to swim after his daddy...
kate... had to shower and dress... as if to say she wanted a clean life... she is and wants to be something nice to hold on to...
sawyer... in an animal cage... a caged animal... in the wild...
I cried, "Oh, Lady Midnight, I fear that you grow old, the stars eat your body and the wind makes you cold." "If we cry now," she said, "it will just be ignored."
benry sez to kate...'the next two weeks will be very unpleasant...' these three are in some kind of behavior mod program.. changing behavior is difficult... bad behavior gets worse before it gets better... emotional pain is involved in changing ones self and this hurts more than anything physical... a clean life takes alot of work.. causes alot of pain... and changing to this is a very unpleasant process....

My vague memory of "the stand" does lend me to think at one point there was a moment where one of the characters (I'm going form the movie version in my mind right now) that sarifices himself near the end to keep the world from total destruction.

jack gives his occupation as a repo man... is that what a surgeon does??? take ssomething used and broken and gives it another life??? was that his goal with sarah?? or all his pts???

I think they really have what they need to break them though. Kate is going to be Sawyers achilles heel.... Jacks past has proven to be his already (BTW...wow Jack crying...who would have thought we'd see that in a episode?
As for Kate I am thinking part of hers is going to be the combo of the two guys ... I mean that they are going to exploit her past, and hurt her mentally with the things that have caused her to run, and then also her thoughts and caring for Jack and Sawyer. Could very well be that part of the test for her could be who she loves??
I cried, "Oh, Lady Midnight, I fear that you grow old, the stars eat your body and the wind makes you cold." "If we cry now," she said, "it will just be ignored."
the boy in the cage... isn't that kind of like sawyer himself??? perhaps we will find out that sawyer had some kind of other experience around the age that the boy is...
juliet shooting sawyer was interesting... will the same woman always be between jack and sawyer??? will a woman always bring sawyer down???
I was wondering if some of Sawyers biggest weakness' are revolving around women (hey I don't blame him though) His willingness to con women, but you could see it that he felt regret in some respsct, but it was his way of putting food on the table. He maybe has a little place in the back of his head that he could very well have been a Mommas boy before the tragidy that happened to him? Leaning him more so to trust in and want the affection of a lady. His hate for strong men other than himself is due to his mistrust of other men having power over him.

who she loves is a misdirection... it is a minor point really.. the answer will be there only to satisfy the shallow thinking of the fans who want this to be a love story...
I like the thought of this capture testing Kate. I didn't think of it before, but she will probably have to choose before she's out of that place. Sawyer has a definite thing for her, but if he's proven one thing, it's that he will make the "bad" choice everytime. Not the wrong choice, mind you, but the bad choice. Not a nice man, that Sawyer.

when he stormed the aa meeting he showed how obessed he was with his marriage and his success... he was hitting the bottom himself and becoming paranoid and suspicious and told daddy how he thought that daddy thought he(jack) wasn't ever good enough... there has got to be more to this...

First...wow nice to see you getting into another thread Plinko
And LL I agree that some of the Ship stuff is just to keep those more shallow fans happy. I like to think that the shippers we have and know here aren't that way. They do want to see the choice made, but they follow other aspects of the show also.
I agree with Plinko that her making a choice that will allow her to get out of the study or whatever it is. I've heard (it is only rumor) that she choses someone that isn't Jack or Sawyer. If that does come to pass I'm thinking that the only person that could have that affect on her wold be the dude (the Dr) from her FB that she thought she killed. Could be possible that he was not dead... even crazier yet.. what if Jack was the one that saved him?
Captain Plinko wrote: So it seems. I do however think Sawyer is terribly cool. "Congratulations, it only took the bears 2 hours." "How many were there?" Funny stuff.
The only character that gets the lines that cool is Hurley, and his seem to have gone away a bit as of late.
I'm waiting to see the one Bear that's still alive again.

i like that thought!!
what is kate running from?..her fear.. which she began to face and learned how to do.. from jack... what is her fear? she doesn't want to be the drunken, conning, bad person that her real father is... that sawyer is.. yet she is attacted to this side (of her) and it creates more fear... she sees that this can calm the wild man and this scares her ... she sees that she can calm the wild man and this also makes her happy... hence the paradox... jack is good.. what she feels she can never be yet wants to be...
yes.. give up on both and go in another direction... but the paradoxes have to be resolved....
Since Hurley's girlfriend got shot there haven't been too many happy moments from the old boy. It will be interesting to see the scene when he return to camp and tells them what happened. Utter chaos will ensue.
