let us go on the premise that what the others do is somewhat like sam becket's journey thru times... , correcting the wrong path and making it right (he did run into stephen king btw)....but the others do this thru extensive behavior modification procedures
dannielle... this may not be her real name.. perhaps she may even be the original degroot.... just an idea... there is a reason why they keep delaying her backstory...
dannielle... was once one of the leaders of the others. something happeneded to her where she requested that she go thru the behavior modification program that they run to get her life back on track...(perhaps her husband died in experimentation...) something happened during this procedure that made her lose it totally...( the serum went bad???) when this happened.. she started killing her 'crew'.... the other others... including those who had control over the security system (how would she know what it is if she wasn't one of them??) and the magnetic station... hence the button was put in place... she remembers robert as her husband... but who can believe her...
the others that remained couldn't bring themselves to kill her to put her out of her misery so they allow her to roam the island... in her unstable condition she remembers them but not everything.. she has been to all of the hatches but her confusion limits her memory... she was pregnant during her illness and that is why they took alex... so she wouldn't harm the baby... her basic instinct of survival always kicks in and that is why she attacks and does not like the others for taking alex... and how she knows who is 'one of them...'
the illness and the serum may just be mental illness and a huge shot of vitamins every 9 days may be what the others are using as treatment... (it was once a popular theory for treatment)...
danielle was the incident that set this stage of the island in motion...
I like the overall thought LL. I can honestly see that she was part of them, and have stated as such in the past. I would almost believe that she was part of the group through her whole pregnancy. She had Alex, and as Alex grew older Dannielle didn't want her to become part of what they were doing. So when she questioned it either they gave her the boot, or she ran. Now that would be why Alex still remains with them. She knows that maybe her mother is mad, but also knows that part of the reason for it was due to the Others making her allow them to do things for research with Alex.???? HHHmmmm???
I like the idea... never really thought that much about Danielle being an Other, but it does make sense. We've never seen the ship her crew was on. I don't think she ever explained where it was.
When she trapped Ben (Henry) she seemed not to know him and vice versa. Either that is a ploy, or they truly don't know eiach toher. She did say that he would lie and he would lie or a long time and she was right.
It never set right with me that they took Alex when she was a week old. I didn't buy that story.
This goes along with what I'd said not long ago that it seemed odd to me that for a lady that we know has a firearm that she had (sort of hidden BTW) a makeshift crossbow, but it was armed with a real arrow??? Why use that instead of the gun?? Less chance for infection from the wound, and also it's an easy way to look like you wanted to do damage without doing much damage. Well I hope that makes sense to you guys.

I'm thinking she has a good suply of ammo for the gun/guns.. If she has access to as much of the island as I think she does I'm thinking she very well could have found another hatch at one point or another (if she's not part of the others) and it could have also contained a supply of guns and ammo.

i think she knows where alll of the supplies are kept but her illness... her mental condition... prevents her from seeing the picture as a whole... she zeros in on her daughter and forgets to remember the rest of her life...
If that is the case LL it does make alot of sense, and explain alot about her. What if (for the sake of playing devils advocate) she is indeed a major part of the OTHERS...look at the risk that Ben took allowing himself to be caught. Some argue that he didn't, but how else to explain it? I am actually doubting that he was looking to talk to Locke. Because if he was wouldn't you think that the Others would have had him on the list that they gave Michael?

so true!! locke would have been on the list to be taken!! this is one of the 'lies' that benry told... in the process of behavior modification sometimes untruths are used as a way of testing the process and whether or not it is taking hold... or to confuse and distract in order to lay the groundwork for the behavioral change... confuse and conquer...
i like the idea that ben was trying to communicate with danielle... i do think she was higher than him in the pecking order before she went off the deep end.... if there is anyone he had a connection to it would have been her... perhaps he is...robert???

That is sort of what I was talking about with them. Could it be that they were an Item at one point? Maybe Alex was the splitting issue. She decided that she wanted a normal life for her daughter, and Benry decided otherwise, and formed some sort of mutany?
