If the Other's don't kill people, then what's with Ethan or whoever sneaking on the Island and killing someone when he didn't get Claire back? And why not just tell everyone why they're there? And why he tried to kill Charlie? What are the Other's so afraid of?

If the others are so good, then since they obviously have contact with the outside world didn't they contact the outside world and get the losties some help???? They can get detailed files on their personal lives and of their loved ones but they can't get help...

Ok, here we go.....

King says on pages 105 -106...

Look, here's a table covered with a red cloth. On it is a cage the size of a fish aquarium. In the cage is a white rabbit with a pink nose and pink-rimmed eyes. In its front paws is a carrot-stub upon which it is contentedlt munching. On it's back, clearly marked in blue ink , is the numeral 8.

He asks if we see the same thing amd brings up the issue of the cage ... is it wire mesh? glass? steel rods?

but the most important thing is the blue 8. This is what everyone is interested in. he says, we all see it. he never opened his mouth, you never opened yours, you're not even in the same year together.... but you have a meeting of the minds. like telepathy.

this is actually the point of the chapter is that writing is telepathy.

what are the others so afraid of?? why won't they welcome people into their group? if they need breeding stock, isn't it better to do it that way? why do they draw the line and say stay away and then kidnap??

it is so much like there are two groups of others on the island...er... islands...

That's the whole point. She made her choice when she said that line. The whole time Sawyer is saying every man for hismelf. She retorts Live together die alone. She's chosen jack.

sorry Lion, i don't theeenk so. She could've gone off to find Jack, or said she loved him and not Sawyer but nope... she got her ass back in that cage.

Just because she uses a line that Jack used, that btw i don't think she's ever HEARD him use does not mean she's chosen Jack. It's just a common theme on the show. Sawyer no longer believes in that 'every man for himself' philosphy any more caue of Kate, and she elects not leave him behind like others have and he has done to others in his life.  The shows title, like the  title 'everybody hates hugo' is exactly the opposite of what happened on the show. That's the point of bringing up 'iive together die alone' not as some weird declaration of love for Jack but as a mantra they have now.

That's the one thing that I don't like about being any kind of shipper. For some reason they can't see past what they want to happen. I want Jack and Kate to be together ...I skate Jate ...... it's true ... it's VERY true .... but I can admit when something looks like a score for Skate instead of Jate. And I can enjoy both men even if I prefer one to be with the girl instead of the other. And I'm open minded enough about it to say, hey, this is what I think but, you might be right.

and that's what i love about talking to you Lion you are open-minded like that and i've tried to be too for the most part. If i see a scene that looks good for Jate i'll admit it. The idea doesn't bother me, i just prefer one side to the other that's all. I'm sorry if i came off a bit snarky or defensive there it's just we've had some bratty little Jaters on our ship lately picking apart all of our scenes and telling us how stupid we are. So no matter there.

But anyways, all else aside i really liked this particular epi and all the nuiances they showed in Sawyer, and in his ever-changing relationship with Kate. For Sawyer it isn't every man for himself anymore, cause as Ben pointed out, he didn't start behaving until KATE was threatened. It wasn't about him anymore.

Thanks Fricks

I was just rewatching our season opener and I just can't get enough of the first scenes with Pickett outside of the cage when they get to their labor detail - which really does look like a chain gang ... interesting, hadn't really thoguht of that before. Behind bars and doing the chain gang thing - hmm

Anyhoo .... that whole speel of dialog just reminds me of the things I love about Sawyer. He is so intelligent yet SO gullible. he thinks caught in the net means Jack and kate had sex. He thinks some big word for far sightedness means he's got a deadly disease and he thinks he's got a pacemaker in his heart that's going to explose. BUt, the whole thing where he gives Kate that look when Pickett says she can take the dress off, the "How dare You ? and then the hand raised - I got a question and the Shot?? We don't even get a warning??? Man, I have played that entire thing to death and have laughed till I've nearly peed my pants. Gotta love Sawyer for that kind of stuff.
