I cried, "Oh, Lady Midnight, I fear that you grow old, the stars eat your body and the wind makes you cold." "If we cry now," she said, "it will just be ignored."
what price would you pay for your life? (would you pay) the life of someone else? over and over again? eko kept killing to protect his brother... even after his brother was dead... eko nevr died for his brother tho... he made his brother's life a farce... he did not honor his brother... he shamed him... even with the initial killing, eko dishonored his brother... and was selfish in keeping his brother alive... that is why yemi asks for his confession... eko's answer, tho it seemed so right, was spiritually incorrect... so smokie done him in... maybe it was smokie who did in scott... or steve... whichever....
maybe the others never have killed... maybe smokie strung up charlie...
oh! goodie... if something happens now we can say 'smokie did it!!'

interesting that eko has a vision and a flashback almost at the same time... yemi...'it is time to confess...to be judged...i will be waiting...' eko never confessed any of his murders... he never regretted any of his murders.. he was proud of the life he chose and lived... he was given the chance not to kill over and over... yet he always chose murder....
contrast to locke... many did not like him last year becuz he was wimpy and pushing the button... he didn't like it either... but he knew it was necessary until ben planted doubt... this year...after his holding pattern of last year... he has renewed strength and direction... and he is including others on his journey... how dangerous will this be? but locke has always admitted responsibility for his choices... and his choices have made him better...

colleen's funeral... white... fire.. pushed off to sea... bodies do have a habit of disappearing or resurfacing on this island... jack's dad and yemi disappeared... the marshall and henry gale were dug up again.... shannon wass led back to boone's grave... will they stay down???
if someone can google the patsy cline song played at the funeral it would be appreciated... i wonder somethingsomethingsomething....

ben's question to jack about god is interesting... if he is so bad, can he still believe in god? eko believed...was eko bad?
is jack being played by the others? is there a tumor? which of juliet's words were lies? the written or the spoken? what would you do? death to the evil ben or live up to my oath as a doctor... 'first do no harm...'
there are two sides to every story and more that one thought to every question... what we do is right for us, but first do no harm...

i don't really care who the he11 kate chooses... i think this is just a way to placate some of the viewers... and it is just a big red herring... but if we learned anything tonite, it is that our choices can have a great effect on others... we are given choices to make until we do what is right....

OK.. right off the4 bat on this I'm going to say that had I been in his shoes from the time he killed the man to protect Yemi...I would have done alot of the same. My family is my whole existance, and I would indeed kill for them. There of course would be regret and a terrible weight to carry, but I would not hesitate to do so.

I'm wondering if it's something that isn't a thing that can be controlled? Could it be that it's something that only comes to him whenever? No real rhyme or reason to it?

And I think the cliffhanger for the first part of the season is going to be Jack doing the surgery, and if he lets Ben die or not.
i don't think it's in him... the behavior mod didn't take effect... jack will always live up to his dr's oath.... how much will sayid figure out in the next epi???

That's how I feel Snootch. I just have a problem with the drug stuff. I have a problem with him tyring to assert his power over those drug lords tyring to appear to be having their interest at heart and resulted in one of them getting killed. He could have been smarter about that, but I think he was doing the whole my bite is bigger than yours thing as if it were a terf war or something. That I didn't like.
I agree LL. And I think it's a bit much to have Juliette pull something like that so quickly.
Personally, I feel very dissatisfied with this eppy. I felt it moved too fast and lacked the suspense and gelling that we used to see. It's just moving too fast now.
Ugggh! Those sneaky little ! Waiting until the very end to kill off Eko! I was hoping through the whole episode that the rumors wouldn't be true and then they do it at the end. I still liked the episode but I really hope that by the very end of the show everyone is not dead.
And it was a good thing Nicki was there in the hatch to show everyone the other tv's! <sarcasm> And that Paulo was there to use the bathroom and make sure the toilet was working ok! <sarcasm>
Despite my nitpicky criticisms I still thought it was a good episode. Hope it goes out with a bang next week!
IR...I have to say that I wasn't waiting past the first sign of good ol' smokie. I knew it was lights out at that point.
I agree that as of now I'm saying they could just bury the 2 new characters in the pearl, and say be gone. 3 epi's with this one having them a part of a group and they use the biffy, and watch TV Man these two better have some hella usefull backgroud stuff that opens things up for the whole show or I'm going to be pissed
I think that Smokie is an extension of the island. Like an Avitar in a sense. It is the islands personality personified and it is ( I hope this is the right word ) Bipartisan. It doesn't see good or evil. It just randomly selects. For some reason it likes Locke. It judged Ecko. It's what it is.

5 new regular cast members (Ben, Juliet, Desmond, backgrounder guy, backgrounder woman). Two regular cast members gone (Michael, Eko).
I'm thinkin' someone else or more has to go so the talent budget doesn't get blown.
undoubtably some of the new cast will be here only for the year... juliett willl probably bite the bullet... maybe kate kills her... if sun can kill, can kate be far behind???

let's give nikki and paulo a chance... there were other new characters that we didn't like at first but all of these guys grew on us... remember when everyone hated jin? now he's been up for sexiest man alive!!!

as they begin to show us more of smokie and what it is will be very interesting... locke got rid of the hatch... will he do the same for smokie??? accidentally... or on purpose???
LIon the problem I have with your thoughts on smokie is that it did leave Locke alone, but it also left Eko alone after his encounter the first time. This time it came after he had decided he needed to no lnger feel ashamed for the evil deeds he had done. When he first met the monster it left him alone maybe due to the fact that at that pointhe was all about doing what was good, and following what his brother would have done as a man of god.
LionQueen wrote: It wasn't Ecko's time. Last night it told him - now it's time to confess.
So lion you are looking at it in a sense that it looks at the individual, and looks to see if the person is ready to move on in their journey from this life to the next or some such thing? Maybe it's like a modern day version of the wivestale about the grim reaper?
