..Okaaay...and that is where we are at..by the end of " I Do". Jack is sacrificing himself..so Kate can RUN...escape. But there is the LOST twist...Kate won't leave the Island without him..She and Sawyer can run,,get an hour head start..but..Jack is still in the operating room,,and kate won't leave the Island without Jack..Beauty....

So.. its up to Kate and Sawyer to rescue Jack,,and it appears,, since Jack is already in the Hostage mode..that Julie,, just mite be a Willing hostage..

Try..again..Jack as Logic ( Man of Science),, Sawyer as Instincts.. and Kate as Free Will. With out the Choices of Logic and Instincts,, Free Will cannot be exercised. Free Will exists only when there is Choice. Of course,,limiting the Choices to just those two,,is a " conditioning" exercised on mankind from the Past. Something tells me,,Kate may eventually find a few other choices..who knows?..Point being,, jack will be rescued from his Hostage Taking Mode by Free Will and Instincts. Logic has been co-opted by the Others to follow their " hostage Taking mode" of behavior...or as I like to put it..their " OR" existance. Free Will will show Logic that there are other ways of existance than living in the "Or". Logic has to be rescued from the consequences of that way of existing...Notice how the Others Hostage Taking has escalated to ..killing..or do what I want..Jack is also there.
 
B..Kate..as Free Wiill...requires both Logic( Jack) and Instincts( Sawyer) inorder to exist. The modern conceit is that Logic and Instincts are the Two guiding forces in modern man's path thru Life. Without the choices,,Free Will can't exist.. Free Will does not exist when there are no choices....That is why Kate,,can't leave the island without Jack. Kate wanted to liberate Sawyer,, instincts,,but that didn't mean she would abandon Jack. ..Kate Requires survival of BOTH Jack and Sawyer.

This whole thing about..Jate or Skate is missing the point and just fanatsy endorsement..Kate Will choose both. Her survival is dependent on both,,and of course, Logic doesn't like Instincts or Intuition,, and Intuition doesn't like Logic. As it shouldbe.. Both have their flaws..both claim ownership in describing and defining the world around us. Both can be mislead, misunderstood, misleading,,Yet thru both,, we can find Truth.. our own personal Truth. With Both, we can create realities that are our Truth. Ask any artist, musician, dancer etc etc.

The element of ,,Jack not knowing Sawyer was about to get his brains blown out...exactly..quite right..Jack didn't know..but it still appeared to happen...Magic...Mystery.. the Unknown consequences of a positive foward movement...creating positive foward movement creates more of the same....It was a variation of the Desmond #5 iron Lightening Rod parable..Beauty.
