I cried, "Oh, Lady Midnight, I fear that you grow old, the stars eat your body and the wind makes you cold." "If we cry now," she said, "it will just be ignored."
i took a shower today... amazing wasn't it!! but i was thinking too...
ben had said that he has spent his entire life on the island.... jack, in season one, while talking to kate, said something about, 'everybody gets a new life on this island...' is that what ben meant? when he came to this mysterious magical place his life began??
something like being converted to christianity... ?
I cried, "Oh, Lady Midnight, I fear that you grow old, the stars eat your body and the wind makes you cold." "If we cry now," she said, "it will just be ignored."
Well, that's true. But we know he's not lying about the two islands. He wasn't lying about the tumor. So, he does tell the truth sometimes....it's usually mixed with some smidgeon of falsehood though
I cried, "Oh, Lady Midnight, I fear that you grow old, the stars eat your body and the wind makes you cold." "If we cry now," she said, "it will just be ignored."
I do think however, that if Ben is redeemable it's on this slight posibility - that he might be doing all of this to satisfy whoever he's above and doing as little as he can appease them with in order to try to figure out how to save the losties. I started thinking this when we got the Ben/Alex connection. maybe it's not Juliette that's rebelling - maybe it's Ben and maybe that's why some people want Ben dead. Sayid had to do things beyond his control because he had no other choice in the position he was in. I call it a lesser evil. Meaning, he did the lowest amount possible to appease the people forcing him to do it. Not that it's right, but it is a reason and when a person is stuck between a rock and a hard place he/she does some pretty astounding things. Sometimes what some would consider despicable things.
I cried, "Oh, Lady Midnight, I fear that you grow old, the stars eat your body and the wind makes you cold." "If we cry now," she said, "it will just be ignored."
i am not sure that juliet wants ben dead... it may have been some odd test of morality... how far would jack go for me type of test... if the others are anything, they are masters at psychologicl game playing... is this what dharma has degenerated to??
I cried, "Oh, Lady Midnight, I fear that you grow old, the stars eat your body and the wind makes you cold." "If we cry now," she said, "it will just be ignored."
i think our LOSTies have done much worse things and made the wronger assumptions than what the others have done/made.... my impression of the others is that they really want to be left alone to intellectualize and think... not to harm anyone. they are merely protecting their way of life and giving some people a chance to join them... how do we know that they won't release the people they captured? how do we know there wasn't some unknown reason for taking them?
They crashed on an island, are scared out of their minds by a 'monster', get kidnapped, and are fighting for survival. The Others seem to know what they're doing, have all the amenities they need ( well they can't seem to leave, or get medical treatment); then they sneak up on the frightened Losties, kill some of them for no apparent reason, don't explain themselves and don't seem to care about anyone.

from lno...jan 9... when brax was with us... go back and read his thread... he makes some good points!!!
RE: lady's nite out...jan9
if the others are such bad people... what does that make our LOSTies? as Brax pointed out in his post, if you go to the website to read it... our LOSTies have run out in the jungle with guns at every opportunity... the death toll is numerous! ana, at least 2; eko, 2; charlie, 1; kate and sawyer, 1; and our LOSTies have spent time killing each other too! michael got 2; jack, the marshall after sawyer failed to; ana killed shannon... charlie kidnapped sun...
are they still the good guys??? is this how the good guys act? if this is good.. what's bad?
The Losties aren't saints ( flashbacks). Most of those were in defense. (Michael? - what'd the Others tell him?) Nathan and Juliet seemed to be expendable to the Others. I think Danielle and Ben are working together. I've got to go. I'm going to watch more of Season 2 later...
Brax's post was excellent - I put it in my favorites. Can I post it?

In the season 2 finale, Henry replied to Michael's question about "Who are you people?" with "We're the good guys."
I believe that he was being 100% truthful with that statement. Does that mean that the others are "the good guys"? Absolutely not. Very few people or groups or organizations or countries think of themselves as the bad guys. It's a question of perspective. Sure they have killed people, but they have been killed in return (they lost one just getting the Love Connection and Hurley into custody. To them, they probably have the 3 most dangerous people now safely in custody.
From the other's point of view, the survivor's of flight 815 have killed a lot of them. The list off the top of my head; Ana Lucia - killed 2 of them and 1 of her own, Mr. Ecko - killed 2 of them, Charlie - killed 1 of them and kidnapped 1 of his own, Locke - killed 1 of his own, Michael - killed 2 of his own, and Jack/Kate/sawyer - killed 1 of them just on the trip, and 1 of their own (the Marshall) and run off into the jungle at every opportunity armed with guns to start indescriminately shooting at people. I'll just throw Danielle if for effect - she killed her whole team (including her husband). Who have the others killed? Nathan, Scott/Steve, anyone that I'm forgetting? Does this mean that I think the others are right? No. I'm just pointing out that it's all in which side you are on who is right and who is wrong.
Are the others good or evil? Are the survivors good or evil? The answer to that question depends on which side you are on when you answer.
