The "Lost" panel started at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. I was running a little late and got to the convention center at about 10:15. I didn't even know if I was going to be able to see the panel because I had to check with my supervisor to see if I could check-in for work an hour later. She said it was fine, so I rushed upstairs to Ballroom 20 thinking it was probably packed. I know there were a ton of people who had probably been in line all morning but I was hoping there was still some room even if I had to stand in the back, and hoped I could still get in. I got to the door and since I work for the security company, the guard let me right in. There were still some seats available, but people kept coming so the place was packed.
We got to see a clip of the behind the scenes of the filming of the fight scene between Hurley and Sawyer and a few other things that will be on the Season 2 DVD. We also got to see a clip of the Lost diaries that you'll be able to see on your cell phone and on the internet. It was funny. Hurley "happens" to find a working camcorder on the island and decides to do some video diaries. He starts filming Sawyer and Kate and Sawyer says something like "Get that out of my face, Spielberg". LOL (We all find out later that there will be a montage of Sawyers insults and nicknames on the S2 DVD)
So after the clips, the host announces the guests. Burke, Lindelof and Cuse come out first and the audience in clapping and cheering and cameras are flashing. Then Daniel Dae Kim is introcuced and the cheering and clapping gets even louder. Then Jorge Garcia is introduced and the audience got louder and cameras were flashing like crazy. The cute thing was that Jorge Garcia had a camera and he was snapping pictures of the audience at the same time as he walked out so that made the audience go wild! It was great!
They all were so appreciative of everyone being there. They said that 2 years ago before anyone even knew much about Lost, the audience was about half the size or less than it was this year and they are just amazed and said a heartfelt thank you to us for being there. (And a couple of people had thenerve to criticize them after that. Don't worry, they got booed! I think those two left comicon in an ambulance )
Lindelof and Cuse did most of the talking because they were answering a lot of questions about the show. Garcia and Kim are in the dark about a lot of things still so some of those answers were probably news to them! Especially the answer about the Losties maybe not being on the island for the amount of time that they think they have been there. Kim kind of looked surprised and boy was the audience surprised!
After the criticism of the show and the writers, the host asked the audience "How many of you love Lost?" and everyone cheered and clapped. I was glad she did that because you could tell the words had hit a nerve. They said that they can't write the show so that everyone will be happy with it. They still write with the fans in mind and use audience feedback as a guage, but it's still their show and people will either like it or they won't. The 2nd season was different from the 1st and the 3rd will be different from the first 2. They said fans thought season 1 had too little information and season 2 had too much new information without answering enough questions so they will try to even it out next season. Everyone else told them how much they loved them and asked some good questions. I'm just going to post the link here of the answers to the questions because they had a good summary... http://forums.go.com/abc/primetime/lost/thread?threadID=1192719&forumStart=0
So it ended and they stuck around for a few pictures and were on their way. I wish I had gotten there earlier to try to get backstage... oh well, there's always next year!
I cried, "Oh, Lady Midnight, I fear that you grow old, the stars eat your body and the wind makes you cold." "If we cry now," she said, "it will just be ignored."
Don't be jealous! The whole time I was there I was thinking about what to share with you all and I was excited that I have you all to share it with! Someone who asked a question gave a shoutout to the fuselage and I thought... If I was brave enough to ask a question, I would have given a shoutout to the Treehouse!
